Fahrenheit 451

Should Montag now feel guilty about letting the woman burn herself alive in her own hous or should he have felt guilty when he started burning people's houses and their books?

Montag should have felt guilty when he first started burning people's houses and books because it is a wrong thing to do. He is lucky his house hasn't been burned yet because of the books he has. No one wants to have their house burned to ash. Montag's guilt kicked in at the wrong time because letting a woman die is bad, but if death is the only thing that makes you feel guilty then something is seriously wrong with you and you should probably see professional help.

I think that Montag should have been feeling guilty since he first signed up to be a fireman. Although reading books is illegal, he should feel bad about burning down the house because they could easily remove the books instead of burning the whole thing down. Montag is not a bad person, he is just a good man with a bad job.

I agree with Chase. Montag did choose to be a fireman, so he should've known that he would have to do this kind of thing.

In my opinion I dont think Montag should feel guilty about being a fireman. It's a job. His father and grandfather were both firemen. It was easy for Montag to pick up. I do believe he should feel guilty though when he burns books with people inside. Killing people because they have a book is a bit extreme. If they did something terribly wrong like murder, that's one thing, but to kill someone for having a book is unacceptable in any society.
