Today in class, Laz pointed out that BNW was a mythical archetype story. I was blind sided by that because i thought we were done with those kinds of stories. I didn't realize that Hemholzt was the person who got what he wanted in the end. I thought that was interesting.

Also, we discussed how F451 is an archetype story as well. I tried to understand how Clarisse could die so early in the story, and Laz pointed out that Clarisse was the guide for Montag. She had to die for Montag to go on with his "mission" of finding out who he was.

why is it that i never pick up on these things? haha

Laz is good at picking up things we'd never think of. At first when I read that Clarisse had died I thought well that seems to be the end then for Montag too. To me in the beginning I felt that Montag and Clarisse had started some sort of special relationship that would help Montag throughout the book, as Laz said guide him throughout the story. Then as I read further along I realized that Clarisse guided Montag just enough to get him over that hump if you will and he began to view the world differentl aka the idea of books. Laz figures out these ideas and then when you look back into the book it really helps it make sense.
